A few words about myself, I have two amazing children who I read books to nearly every night covering every genre. I started making up my own stories for the children and they loved it, so it got me thinking about writing a children's book. This was around 2017. After 5 years of getting on with life, I decided it was time to put pen to paper. In 7 months the book 'I want to go to space' was completed. 4 months later Jessica's adventures of 'I want to go to space' were published. I then set about writing a story that I had thought about for a while and in October 2023 'The Lost Alien' was published. In 2024 Jayden and Jamelia’s versions were completed finishing the ‘I want to go to space’ series. I have to say how amazing my Illustrator Nemy has been. She is so talented (and patient) and my books wouldn't be what they are without her talent.
So what is 'I want to go space' about?' It's for children who love everything about space. On Christmas day they receive a telescope which brings them even closer to their passion. They imagine what adventures they would have. I wanted to not only write a book about a story but I wanted children who read this story to bring it to life, and that's exactly what they can do. All the scenarios they imagine can be replicated in a local playground. Swinging, climbing, jumping and using their imagination. It's also a story of family members who give advice on how to help them achieve their dreams. The book then fast-forwards to their adult life working hard and fulfilling their dream.
I hope this book makes children smile and encourages them to love their passion and work hard towards their goals.
For children who love space, there are facts about all the planets throughout the book and a 'Did you know' section at the back.
